Privacy Policy
How SF Cert Hub handles your data — written in plain English, because a privacy policy nobody can read is no protection at all.
The Short Version
SF Cert Hub is a static website with no user accounts and no backend server. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information on our servers — because we do not have servers that handle user data. Your study progress is stored on your own device in your browser's localStorage and never transmitted to us.
The site does load two third-party services that may collect some data on their own: Google AdSense (which serves ads and uses cookies to do so) and Google Fonts (which serves web fonts). Both services are operated by Google LLC under Google's privacy practices.
What Information We Collect Directly
None on our servers. SF Cert Hub is hosted as a static site on Netlify. We do not run application servers, databases, or analytics endpoints that we control. The only things stored on your behalf are the entries you put into the profile setup screen — your chosen display name and avatar color — which live entirely in your browser's local storage.
Specifically, the following data is stored in your browser only:
- Your display name and chosen avatar style/color.
- Your exam history per certification (score, date, time taken).
- Your flashcard "known" status per deck.
- Your color theme and dark mode preferences.
This data is accessible only to your browser at salesforce-study-hub.netlify.app. Clearing your browser's site data for our domain will erase it. We have no copy of it on any server we operate.
Information Collected by Our Hosting Provider
Netlify, the platform that serves our static files, automatically logs basic request information for security and operational purposes — including your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, and your browser user-agent string. This logging is standard for any web hosting provider. Netlify's data handling is governed by Netlify's Privacy Policy.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use two browser storage mechanisms:
- localStorage — for your study progress, profile, and preferences as described above. This is not technically a cookie and is not transmitted with requests.
- Cookies set by Google AdSense — Google may set advertising-related cookies on your browser when ads are displayed. These cookies are used to deliver, measure, and personalize advertising. We do not set or read these cookies ourselves; they are set directly by Google.
Google AdSense
SF Cert Hub displays advertising served by Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-4091387837735744). When you visit a page that displays ads, Google's AdSense scripts run in your browser. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to:
- Serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites on the internet.
- Measure ad performance and detect fraudulent or invalid traffic.
- Personalize ads (in regions where this is permitted by law and where you have consented).
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized ads by visiting aboutads.info.
For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Google requires our site to obtain consent for ad cookies under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. If you are visiting from one of those regions and an EU consent screen has not been presented to you, please contact us using the address below and we will investigate.
Google's full advertising privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Google Fonts
We load the Inter font family from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches the font files, Google's servers receive your IP address and user-agent string as a normal consequence of any HTTP request. Google has stated that Google Fonts does not log requests with your IP for the purpose of advertising and does not set cookies for non-logged-in users when serving fonts. See Google Fonts privacy FAQ for details.
Children's Privacy
SF Cert Hub is a study tool for adult professionals preparing for Salesforce certifications. The content is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through our site, please contact us so we can investigate, although as noted above we do not collect personally identifying information on our servers in the normal course of operation.
Your Rights and Choices
Because we do not store your personal information on our servers, most data-subject rights (access, deletion, correction) apply to data held in your own browser:
- Access: Your study data is visible to you in the profile and stats screens of the app.
- Deletion: Clearing your browser's site data for our domain will erase all locally stored data. You can also delete your profile from inside the profile page.
- Portability: If you need an export of your locally stored data, your browser's developer tools can read
localStoragefor the site directly. Contact us if you need help with this. - Advertising controls: Use Google Ads Settings to control how ads are personalized for you, or use your browser's "Do Not Track" / "Limit Ad Tracking" settings.
For users covered by the GDPR (European Economic Area, UK, Switzerland) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (California, USA), you have additional rights to know what data is collected and to request deletion. Because we do not maintain a server-side user database, most of those requests are satisfied automatically by the choices above. For requests specific to Google AdSense or Netlify's processing, please reach out to those companies directly using the privacy policies linked above.
Third-Party Links
Our site includes outbound links to Trailhead, Salesforce Help, Salesforce Architects, and other resources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.
Data Retention
Locally stored data remains in your browser until you clear it. We do not have control over how long Netlify retains request logs (see Netlify's policy), or how long Google retains advertising cookies (see Google's policy).
Security
The site is served over HTTPS with a strict Content Security Policy that restricts which external scripts and resources can load. Because no user data is collected on our backend, there is no server-side data store that could be breached on our end. Browser-local storage is protected by your operating system's user-level isolation; you should keep your device secured against unauthorized access if your study data is important to you.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy if the site adds new features (for example, if we add an optional account system or change advertising partners). The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Material changes will be announced on the homepage.
Contact
For privacy questions or requests, please open an issue on the project's contact channel (linked from the About page) or use the contact details listed there. We will respond within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days.
